Virtual Academy

Learn anywhere. Soar everywhere.

A fully online public school — taught the Lincoln way. Your student works at their own pace through engaging, video-driven courses, supported by real Lincoln teachers. Same diploma, same Golden Eagle community, learned from wherever life happens.

Fully online, fully supported

Learn at your pace.
Never on your own.

The Virtual Academy is built for students and families who thrive with flexibility — homeschool families, students who need a fresh start, and families who want to come home to Lincoln from a statewide online school. You control the schedule. We provide the structure, the teachers, and the support.

Engaging video courses

Powered by an online curriculum built for engagement, Subject.com, every course uses interactive video lessons that keep students engaged — focusing on one class at a time so they can master it and move on.

Real teachers, real feedback

A Lincoln mentor teacher is assigned to every student — checking progress each week, giving specific feedback, and reaching out the moment a student falls behind.

24/7 access — device included

Coursework is accessible around the clock — learn early, late, or on weekends. Every Western Wayne student receives a Chromebook, and whenever students need help from a real person, teacher and mentor support is available during school hours.

One class at a time

Focus instead of frustration.

Instead of juggling seven classes at once, Virtual Academy students concentrate on one course at a time, earning the credits they need to stay on track for graduation. It’s a strong fit for homeschool families, for students who’ve struggled in a traditional seven-period day, and for self-starters who want to learn at their own pace.

Still a Golden Eagle — even online

Online for academics.
Here for everything else.

Choosing online doesn’t mean leaving the Golden Eagle community behind. Virtual Academy students keep access to the activities, teams, and in-person opportunities that make Lincoln home.

Sports

Virtual Academy students can participate in Lincoln athletics, subject to IHSAA eligibility guidelines — a real difference from most statewide online schools.

Co-curriculars & extra-curriculars

Join clubs and activities like robotics, theatre, and more — open to Virtual Academy students subject to each program’s guidelines.

Dual credit & Indiana College Core

Lincoln’s dual-credit and Indiana College Core coursework is available to Virtual Academy students based on individual and program requirements.

Questions parents ask

Is this a free public school?

Yes. The Virtual Academy is a tuition-free public school program of Western Wayne Schools, open to Indiana students. Out-of-district students enroll tuition-free during open-enrollment windows set by Western Wayne and the Indiana Department of Education, and reapply each school year. Every student receives a Chromebook at no cost.

Can my child play sports or join activities?

Yes. Virtual Academy students can participate in Lincoln sports (per IHSAA eligibility) and in co-curriculars and extra-curriculars like robotics and theatre (per each program’s guidelines) — the same Golden Eagle activities as any Western Wayne student.

How is this different from a statewide online school?

Your student is taught virtually, but supported by Lincoln staff — earning a Lincoln High School diploma and keeping access to our sports, clubs, and Golden Eagle community, something statewide providers can’t offer.

We’re out of district or homeschooling — can we join?

Yes. The Virtual Academy is open to out-of-district and homeschool families across Indiana.
